According to research conducted by the Taiwan Sleep Medical Community, for seniors above 65 years of age, 50% experience insomnia weekly. 25% have chronic insomnia, a rate that rises with age. Females are also more susceptible to it than males.

Acupuncture point massages

Hundred Convergence Point: Press this point before bed to release brain pressure and help encourage sleep for those who use a lot of brain power.

Anmian Points 1 and 2: For those two cannot stop thinking before bed and those with stiff necks, massages these two points 3-5 seconds for 10 times to reduce stress.

Ear Shenmen Point

Shenmen Point: Massage this point to reduce chances of waking up in the middle of the night and enhance calmness.

Neiguan Point: Press this point of release anxiety and help ease into sleep.

 

Massage methods

Press and knead with your finger for 3-5 minutes before changing to another hand. Perform this twice per day, once in the morning and once at night.

Finger pressing: Use your thumb to press down slowly.

Finger kneading: Use your index finger or thumb to make small circles over the point.

Press method: Use your finger to press over the acupuncture point.
