Home Care Aide Leads Discuss the Industry
Do you know about home care aides?
Do you know what an aide does, and what a lead does?
The lead arranges the required assistance, while the aide provides them.
How would an aide or a lead work effectively? Gandan invites Stella homecare lead Si-Ying Pan to talk about the job scope.
Leads are usually young; freshmen who’ve just graduated and are bringing their education into the system. They may face a lot of skepticism from aides twice their age, and will have to exercise steadiness and confidence to solve these problems.
Aides are usually females who are re-entering the job market, with more years of experience.
*Home care leads must meet at least one of the below requirements:
- Be a licensed social worker
- Have a college degree in social work, medicine, nursing, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, nutrition, pharmacy, public health, geriatrics, etc.
- Receive a passing grade in social worker examinations, and has over a year of work experience in related areas.
- Graduated from high school with a focus in nursing, geriatrics etc. and possessed three years of work experience in geriatric care.
- Has over five years work experience as a full time home care aide.
- Graduated from home care lead precursory training
*Home care aides should meet at least one of the following requirements:
- Graduated from home care aide training
- Possesses a home care aide license
- Graduated from high school with a focus on nursing, etc.
For those caring for elders with dementia, an additional training certificate in that area is required.
