In order to achieve local aging, long-term care 2.0 provides multiple services including supporting families, homes, communities and providing residential care, making care service available to the general public, while establishing care-based communities in the hope of improving the quality of life of caregivers as well as those in need of care.

So who are eligible to apply for subsidy? And what type of subsidy can one get? Where and how can one gain access to these resources?

Have a look at the details and make good use of the resources. Apply when needed and reduce the pressure of care-taking!

  • Disabled people: Disabled people with certificate of disability
  • Elderly people living alone or weak elderlies who are in need of assistance: People over the age of 65 who need help dressing, eating, showering and walking; or those who have lost weight and have weak limbs and little strength.
  • Patients with dementia who are over the age of 50: People over 50 years old who have decreased expression ability, memory loss, sleep disturbance, hallucinations and other potential dementia symptoms, or people who are diagnosed with dementia.
  • Disabled indigenous people over the age of 55: Indigenous people over 55 years old who need assistance in daily life such as dressing, eating, showering, walking, etc.

1.Call 1966 long-term care hotline, or apply through your local care center.

  • Call 1966 long-term care hotline or seek assistance from a local care center.
  • If a family member just left the hospital and is need of long-term care, you can also find information from the hospital nursing station.

2.An agent from the care center will pay you a visit and check the level of disability before providing the corresponding level of assistance.

3.The agent or project manager will discuss after the visit to your house, and draw up a care plan.

4.The Home Service Unit will provide services and send a caregiver to your house.

5.You’ll need to pay part of the fee to the institution that provides the care.

“The level of needs regarding long-term care” can be divided into 8 levels. Level 1 does not include subsidy, whereas levels 2 to 8 provides different levels of subsidy – the more sever the situation, the higher the level, and the higher the amount of subsidy. The part where you pay part of the fee is further divided into “low income household”, “low to middle income household”, “general household” which have different partial burden ratios.

Upon clarifying the level of disability, you can find the corresponding maximum subsidy amount from the ``4 bags of money'' provided by the new system, and calculate the monthly use limit and the amount you have to pay on your own according to the disability level and the care plan organized by the project manager. (Restriction: If the person who needs long-term care lives in a long-term residential institution service, they cannot apply for these 4 bags of money)
