The 2020 Lavender Festival has just begun in the Taichung Xinshe Districts’“Lavender Cottage”! Starting from January to the end of March, you can expect to see beautiful blooms of lavender, attracting visitors from all around the country. Come and see a field of lavender swaying in the wind, sparking under the sunlight, celebrating this festival with breathtaking beauty. “Lavender Cottage” is collaborating with “Milk House” to add milk that has even higher quality that that of Hokkaido’s, to the food and snacks in Lavender Cottage. Enter in the morning and have breakfast in the forest; enter at night and take a dream-like carousel ride. Join the forest guide and collect and create your ecology bottle, in which you’ll discover the beautiful universe of plants; create your own bath ball and herb water, immerse the lovely scent of herbs into your life. Welcome to Lavender Cottage, stay for a night and have a romantic purple dream.

Lavender Festival, A Walk Amongst the Flowers

Under the sun, the flowers of lavender sway in the wind. Lavender is also called the “serene herb”, growing calmly on the hills. It is said that this field of lavender is planted by tourists. This purple wonderland is here for newcomers and old friends alike to enjoy.

Pray and May Your Wish Come True

As we walk along the woods, coming to a halt by the wooden sign of the Lavender Rites, pull the rope and enjoy the scent, experience the vibe of the festival.

Note: Lavender Rites (daily event free of charge)

The lavender baptism ceremony is led by the priest. Sprinkle lavender holy water and tell your wishes to the Mountain God while yelling "the forest will fulfill our wishes”, and you will find inner peace in your heart. (Every weekend during the Lavender Festival. Free of charge)

Memory Post, Send Happiness to Yourself

There’s an emotional story of the Memory Post: A pair of brother and sister feuded for a long time. After the brother served the military, the sister sent him a postcard from here. Two weeks later, the sister received a reply from her brother, and the two repaired their relationship. Words bring people together, come send a surprise to your loved ones or even to yourself.

Lavender Cottage X Milk House~ Forest party

Forest garden combines the two themes – forest and garden, and create wonderful delicacies. The food is in collaboration with the local food source as well as “Milk House”. The founder of Milk House, Mr. Kong said, “Milk is alive! What the cow eats will determine the flavor of the milk.” They help local farmers to market their own product and improve the quality of milk. This is my first time trying milk-hyaluronic acid-yogurt, something that I believe many girls will enjoy, now it’s even available in convenient stores.

We can add some ingredients we like to this dish called “Into the woods”. A panel of flowers is spread around, creating a beautiful look. All the animals in the forest are waiting patiently for you to say, “Dig in!”

Lavender Festival-limited Dish, Only Available in Lavender Cottage

Lavender Cottage has launched a special dish for the Lavender Festival, that is, milky spicy rice with shrimp and mussel. Rosemary chili sauce is the chef's specialty. Natural beetroot is used in the dish, topped with fresh milk. The taste is smooth and the adding of mussel makes it even tastier.

Forest Bistro, Enjoy the Delicacies

Group guests can reserve the bistro in the forest. The display of the dishes got everyone stunned, the flashing of cameras was like a round of applause for the chief. The soup was made from the sauce seasoned by the first-generation chief, mama Wang, and it tastes just like home. Laughter filled the air, served with delicious meals, the night was more than I could ask for.

Follow Ocean into the Woods at Night, Seek Your Childhood Memory

Under the call of Lin-Ze, follow the voice of the forest guide “Ocean” and walk towards the carousel. The poem of Shuntaro Tanikawa, 《Darkness is the Mother of Light》 is playing in your headphone: 

“Because of the ray of light, we know how beautiful the world is”

“Darkness is not empty, darkness loves us”

“Don’t be afraid of darkness, the mother of light”

As the poem ended, the cup of tea in our hands were still warm. We got on the carousel, and the songs from Amélie began to play. It felt as if we were back to our childhood times, and we couldn’t help but smile. My soul was cleansed, and in my hands, I held the blessing from lavender.

I’ve always liked the welcoming ceremony of Lavender Cottage. The slow-paced vibe plus the lavender essential oil on my palms make me feel ever so refreshing. After the House owner introduced us to the public facilities, we also found out that no matter where we go, our phone had no signal. The next day I inquired my friends about this, it turns out that without the distractions from our phone, we all went to bed early.

Have Breakfast in the Woods, Enjoy the Morning Sunshine

The House owner will prepare a basket of breakfast. Guests can carry the basket into the forest and enjoy it while you surround yourself with the tranquility of nature. Experience the connection and origins of human and nature and immerse yourself in wonderful phytoncide.

A Walk in the Woods, A Universe in the Mud

The staffs of the Lavender Cottage taught us about the fern in the forest. I dug up a chunk of mud, filling it into a concrete box, using it to nourish my life.

Herb and life, the Connection Between Nature and Human

Join the herb guide and collect edible herbs to create your own herb water. I like simple flavor, so I only collected two kinds of flowers. Drink it before going to bed and cleanse your throat.
