[Senior Travel] Summer Short Trip in the North (New Taipei City, Taipei City, Keelung) 10 Routes for Dummies

Take a look at the 10 travel routes for summer! Senior can travel artistically as well. We recommend places such as The Juming Museum, The Can Culture Art Nature, National Center for Traditional Arts, Taipei 101 public art project; or you can also choose to explore nature with sightseeing spots such as the Pingxi Shifen Waterfall, Jioufen Bitou Cape, Xindian Bitan, Wulai hot spring; if you fancy a cup of latte, try the Starbucks Bao’an Shop, you can visit Dihua Street on the way; take a stroll at the Keelung Port Dock, and stop by the Harbour Rainbow House upon sunset.

From Shifen Old Street, to Jiuofen Old Street, Jinshan Old Street, Sanxia Old Street, Wulai Old Street, Luodong Night Market, Dihua Street, and Keelung Miaokou, have fun and enjoy the food.

Pingxi Route

What to do: Hop from village to village in New Taipei City’s Shifen, Pingxi, Jingtong. The old Jingtong railway station and the coal-washing center will remind you of the good old days.

The “Rice Noodle Soup Under the Banyan” offers a variety of side dish platter. The soup of the thick rice noodle is exceptionally delicious! The Shifen Waterfall is the largest Block-type waterfall in Taiwan, and it becomes increasingly powerful after the rain. Enjoy the giant’s kettle while you explore this place.

Joiufen

What to do: Take a walk at the Bitou walkway in the morning. The shops on the Jioufen Old Street tend to close at 7, so remember to return to the streets 1.5 hour earlier, find a nice tea house and enjoy the food here.

Jingshan

What to do: This museum is established by the famous artist Juming. The museum is created to present how art evolved. The foundation is created to ensure the museum goes on for years to come, and for the workpieces to find a good home. This process of art returning to the society is called “fulfillment”.

What to do: The Can Culture Art Nature. A trip to search for the artisan in Sanxia. The Kouji restaurant offers afternoon tea, soy milk and more. Prepare to enjoy a memorable meal in the lovely glass house.

Luodong

What to do: The Luodong National Center for Traditional Arts is easy to access and offers exciting events. Crafts on Luban Street – Pig of the Chinese zodiac sign – Yilan-style local restaurant – Boat ride at Dongshan river – Wen Chang Street – Return to Luodong Night Market and gobble down all the food!

Xindian

What to do: The landmark of Xindian, “Bitan” used to be one of the top eight attractions in Taiwan. Why not take a walk across the Bitan bridge that crosses over the Xindian River and reach the best sight-seeing spot, “Little Red Cliff” Bitin.

Wulai

What to do: The water of the hot spring at Wulai is exceptionally clear, it is also called the Beauty Spa. There is a small pool in the visitor center, you can chat with others while enjoying snacks there. Some must-try food on Wulai Old Street includes the Atayal sausage, the millet mochi and the onsen tamago; Take the tourist train and enjoy Wulai.

Taipei Xinyi District

What to do: The world-renowned masterpieces displayed in the public art project in Xinyi district can be seen near the Taipei 101, Section 5, Xinyi Road, Songzhi Road and Songshou Road. Tourists love to take photos in from of the huge LOVE sign.

101 is just like a museum, with an enormous department store, it is an iconic landmark of Asia. The art of 101 is incomparable!
