Because of the windmills, grandma took her grandson Lucas on a road trip with Miaoli Bus 5815. Grandma listed 5 important things to note with regard to this trip. For those of you who can’t wait to find out, jump to page 5.

This is one of Happy Bus’s routes, starting from THSR Miaoli station to Houlong Cape of Good Hope. The experienced driver will take you through the town of Miaoli then to the final destination – Cape of Good Hope, during which the driver will speak about the beautiful coastline of Cape of Good Hope and Wanwa with sentimental feelings.

Grandma recommended family destination, Northern-Taiwan nature attraction plus the Houlong west-coast line, what a treat!

Note 1: Ban Tian Liao Cape of Good Hope Station – Wong Tzu Station

To get to Houlong Cape of Good Hope, stop at ‘Wong Tzu station’, this is not the final destination, so if you’re traveling during weekdays, you may be the only one to get off at this stop. You can tell the driver that you’re heading to Cape of Good Hope so that the driver can remind you to get off at the right stop.

Happy Bus 5815’s final destination is ‘Wanwa’.

From Wong Tzu station to Cape of Good Hope

After you get down at Wong Tzu station, you’ll be stunned by the fairy tale-like windmills below the beautiful blue sky. There’s a sign of the Cape of Good Hope on the small hill.

Note 2: Cape of Good Hope Coastline, Don’t Just Follow your Heart

No Mountains, Just Me

The time and energy spent on commuting should be of utmost concern. Taking the stairs is a way to approach the tunnel. It is easy when you’re going downwards, but if you’re going from Wong Tzu station back to Miaoli, you’ll need to walk from the walkway to the watchtower.

Enjoy this view and the pleasant breeze, don’t walk far.

Note 3: Of the Many Basic Needs of Human, Food and Water are the Most Vital

Just Food Stands, no 7-11

There are no convenient stores on the watchtower of Cape of Good Hope, just some food stands selling drinks and eggs. If you’re a picky eater, remember to bring your own food or you may not be able to find a store during this half-day trip.

Don’t Miss a ‘Public Toilet’ When you Pass by one.

If you see a public toilet with a red roof, you mustn’t miss it, for this is the easiest place to use the toilet in the site.

Moderate cleanness, no tissue provide, and no vending machines.

Note 4: Cape of Good Hope Walking Route

Cape of Good Hope is located at the highest point of the Miaoli coastline. 21 windmills and the long shoreline. Lovely silver grass makes up a beautiful countryside scenery.

What a Wonderful Life

Three of us by the sea, enough to make anyone jealous. Elderlies should travel with ease, with a pavilion to look at the sea and train as it passes by, this is what a wonderful life should be.

Scenery Walkway

Descending from the watchtower and through the Guo Gang Old Tunnel, is the walkway. This well-maintained walkway consists of some platforms for tourists to take a rest and enjoy the scenery, there aren’t a lot of people during the weekdays.

Crossline

The windmill icon on the map is the crossline, on the left is the old tunnel. Almost half the walk includes stony stairs, it takes 40 minutes to walk pass three tunnels, and if you plan to visit other sites, it will require some energy.

THSR Miaoli station –Exit 1 – Bus stop – Platform 6 – Take bus 5815

The bus 5815 departs soon after visitors abroad it, if you miss one you’ll have to wait for another 2 hours. You can only find a Starbucks and a Mos Burger in the Miaoli station.

Get the Cape of Good Hope Map at the Miaoli Station Tourist Center

You must get the map of the Cape of Good Hope at the tourist center, for you won’t be able to find one once you arrive at the destination.

Grandma’s been through this trip twice. On the first time, grandma fell asleep on the bus, plus, she strongly believed that she will get to Ban Tian Liao Cape of Good Hope, so she did stay alert as the bus drove pass the campus of the National United University.

And then, they got off at the wrong stop.

Grandma and Lucas got off at Zhang Tzu station, and had to hitch hike. Luckily, they were picked up by a kind passerby, Mr. Peng, who drove them to Cape of Good Hope.
